Metaserver Overview

CoolBar Icons Legend

The List below is a brief explanation of the CoolBar Icons and the Function they Perform.

Home : Selecting this icon will return you to your home view.

Log Out : Selecting this icon will Log the user out of the Metaserver Web Portal.

Switch Perspectives : Selecting this icon will change the right hand pane to the perspective view, allowing you to Switch between the Perspectives you have assigned permissions for.

My Preferences : Selecting this icon will bring up your preferences page in the right hand pane, this is where you would enable/disbale tree view.

Access my Database Warehouses : Selecting this icon will bring up all projects that are available to you in the system.

Show all my generated Reports : Selecting this Icon will take the User to the report repository, where all previously-generated reports are stored until archived by the User.

Show all Generic Reports : Selecting this icon will bring up the list of all available Generic Reports.

View/Manage Submission Schedule/s : Selecting this Icon will bring up Submission Scheduler page.

Perspective Views

There are three perspective views depending on your user rights, these are:

  • Admin Perspective

  • Manager Perspective

  • Submission Perspective

    • You can change your perspective at any time by clicking on Switch Perspective Icon from the menu bar

    Admin Perspective

    For information relating to this Perspective please contact your Administrator

    Manager Perspective

    The following options are available in the manager perspective, if you are a member of the following group

  • Modify license information ('User Management' user group)

  • Add new metaserver user ('User Management' user group)

  • Manage workstation permissions (Root Admin only)


    • The following options are available in the manager perspective, if you have the tree enabled in preferences and are a member of the following group

  • Portal Management (Root Admin only)

  • Security Realms ('User Management' user group)

  • Service Registry ('Server Management' user group)

    • Submission Perspective

    The following options are avilable in the submission perspective, if you are a member of the following group

  • Submission schedule manager ('console user' user group)

  • Submission WarehouseDatabase ('reporter' user group)

  • My Reports ('reporter' user group)

  • Generic ('reporter' user group)


    • The following options are available in the Submission perspective, if you have the tree enabled in preferences and are log in as the Root Admin

  • Publisher Registry

  • State warehouse
