In order to add or edit a user, you need to have the Management Perspective and User Management assigned in your user groups. These permissions are set by the Metaserver Administrator during account creation, though they may be added at a later date by an administrator editing the user account permissions.
There are two ways to add a new user, either click Options on the menu bar, select User Management and then select Add User, or select the Management Perspective using the Switch Perspective icon on the menu bar, then click Add new metaserver user
Fill in the fields Username (between 5 and 15 alphanumeric characters), Email and Password (between 6 and 15 alphanumeric
characters) for this user.
If you wish the user to be able to log in and use their account, check the Enabled checkbox. Please note that this can be enabled
at a later date if you do not wish this user to be able to use their account until a later date
From the perspectives box, select which perspectives you wish this user to be able to view
From the User's Group box, select all the groups that you wish to assign to this user, by selecting the group(s) and then click on the right pointing arrow
The default groups are as follows:
Click Continue
You should see confirmation that the user has been created successfully
click Continue
In addition the default groups listed about, you can create custom groups
To create a custom group, click Options on the menu bar, select Add Group.
Enter a name for your custom group, and then select an existing group that you wish to inherit the properties of.
If the group is an organisation, check the Is Organisation? box
Enter a description, if you wish, about this group in the description box
Click Continue to create this group and you will see confirmation that the group has been created, click Continue
When a new single user is now created, your user group will appear in the User's Group box and you will be able to select it for the new user
Before you can edit a user, you must have Enable Tree View checked in the My Preferences page (last icon on the menu), the tree will appear on the left when this is done.
Pop Securities Realm(s) using the +, then pop User(s), click on the user you wish to edit, you will then be presented with the same option that were given for the single new user creation, with addition, a reset password button
