Automatic Image Categorisation

This feature can be used at the project scope or at a channel scope. For the purposes of this help file, all screen shots and references are at the project scope.

When creating a project, initially the user will be supplied with images that would be dropped into the appropriate folder by the user. This feature allows the procedure to be automated using a name matching strategy. By using the correct file naming policy, it is possible to sort images into category, priority and locale.

Categories

There are 5 Categories that images will be imported into when using the wizard. (Shown in Caption 1)

Caption 1: Categories

The naming used to categorise images is essential to the correct behaviour of this feature. Only the following can be used and they must all be in Lower Case:

Mount the folder containing the images via FS Mounts following normal procedures. Either the mounted folder or the images in the folder may then be dragged into any of the category folders. This will prompt the image wizard to open allowing the user to decide which file policies to match. Only the Category Policy is initially selected Shown in Caption 2).

Caption 2: Policies

Selecting Finish will bring up the progress window. The time taken to perform the actions will vary depending on the amount of images being imported (Shown in Caption 3).

Caption 3: Progress

When the wizard finishes, all of the images that follow the required naming convention will be moved into the correct category folder. All images that do NOT follow the required naming will be moved into the Unknown Category (Shown in Caption 4).

Caption 4: Categorised Images

Note that the images in the Unknown Category do not follow the correct naming, as highlighted in the image above.

Locales

If an image has the locale in its file name and the locale policy is selected when the wizard runs, the image will have the locale set against it. This also requires the correct file naming policies to be followed. These must again be in lower case and only two character ISO 639-1 locales ("en") may be used (Shown in Caption 5).

Priorities

Image priority is set using the "prio" prefix followed by the priority value in order to set an image's priority in a Metaflow submission. For example, in Caption 6, ingame_110x130_en_prio77.png uses a priority of 77. When the image is dropped in the appropriate folder, the image is assigned a priority value of 77. (Shown in Caption 6).
